Privacy

Pills is operated by René Lönngren. Contact rene@wisepunk.com about privacy, access, or deletion.

Your connection and workspace

With read-only YouTube access, we retrieve your channel identifier, name, avatar, subscriptions, and public video information. We use official YouTube APIs to browse subscriptions and search for videos. We do not retrieve liked videos or watch history or change your subscriptions or playlists. Optional personal discovery uses your subscriptions and public metadata to estimate your interests and suggest videos.

Your interests, learning goal, Adventure setting, exploration plans, exercise checkmarks, notes, and saved watchlist are stored for your Pills workspace. Essential cookies secure sign-in. Vercel may process request information, including IP addresses, for operation and security. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

Optional Gemini processing

After you confirm that you are 18 or older and consent, Google’s gemini-3.7-flash processes the interests, learning goal, and Adventure setting you deliberately enter. It generates questions, public search directions, and practical exercises. Those Curiosity exercises use only your entered preferences. With separate personal discovery consent, Gemini also processes public video titles, creator names and identifiers, durations, publication dates, discovery queries, and explicit feedback preferences to select videos. A sample of your subscription videos helps it find likely interests. We never send notebook text, account identity, email, or credentials to Gemini.

We use the paid Gemini API service. Under its terms, prompts and responses are not used to train or improve Google’s models. Stored Interactions are disabled, although Google may retain data for safety and legal obligations. See Gemini’s terms. Gemini runs when you request a learning plan or personal selection. You can use search, subscriptions, and notes without consenting to AI processing.

Watching and saving videos

The privacy-enhanced YouTube player loads only when you choose a video. Google and YouTube may then process IP address, device and playback information and use cookies or similar storage. We do not record video opens or playback activity. We check Made for Kids status before embedding and do not offer Pills watchlist tracking for those videos or videos with unknown status. Personal ranking and feedback also exclude those videos. “More like this,” “Not for me,” and “Already watched” are explicit private feedback, not inferred watch history. “Save in Pills” is your explicit action and does not alter YouTube likes or playlists.

Storage and expiry

Vercel hosts the application, Neon stores the database, and Google provides YouTube APIs and Gemini. Public YouTube search results may be cached across users for six hours. Search reservations enforce daily usage limits. Google credentials are encrypted; session tokens are hashed. Supadata receives broad public search queries to discover additional videos. It does not receive your account identity, credentials, notebook, or subscription list. Official YouTube APIs provide the displayed video metadata and playback status.

YouTube metadata and subscription records are refreshed or removed from the active database within 21 days. Read-time guards hide expired data. Personal selections and feedback expire within 21 days; refresh job snapshots expire after seven days. Import snapshots expire after seven days. Daily maintenance checks Google access and identity information. Revoked or expired connections lose their YouTube data, credentials, watchlist, personal selections, and feedback; independently authored plans and notes remain in the workspace. An existing session can reconnect that workspace. Export important notes before signing out of a disconnected account. Search caches contain public data only and are not linked to a user’s subscription list.

Saved videos can disappear if their metadata expires or they become unavailable. Your notes and learning inputs are retained until you delete them or your account. The local notebook on the welcome page stays only in this browser, is separate from the connected workspace, and can be exported. Clearing browser storage removes local notes. It is never sent to Gemini.

Deletion and control

Account settings let you export notes, sign out, or choose “Disconnect & delete account.” Deletion removes your connection, credentials, learning inputs, plans, notes, saved-video links, personal selections, feedback, refresh jobs, and sessions from the active database, and attempts to revoke Google access immediately. Neon recovery history is configured for one day; deleted records age out with that retention. Shared public video caches expire separately. If Google revocation is unavailable, remove access through Google account connections. You can also contact us for access, correction, or deletion.

The Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements, governs data obtained from Google APIs. This private experiment has not been approved or certified by Google.
